It's been an action-packed spring/summer for the Trolleys, and even with the Winnipeg Folk Fest now in our rearview mirrors, things are still only just getting started.
The above is a photo of some of our new costumes in the Art City Parade (photo by MZS Photography). Folk Fest also marked the first time we brought the Elephant for a trip to the festival ground, surrounded by the very same flock of Trolley-birds shown above. We played in front of thousands of folkies in the Saturday after-main stage show and took Pope's Hill by storm (not to mention getting the whole campground into quite the frenzy of dance in our daily campground parade).
Uptown gave us the following shout out in their Folk Fest review:
"Special props also go to Winnipeg’s always weird and wonderful Flaming Trolleys marching band, which showed up on Sunday afternoon for the children’s parade in full costume with acrobats and a life-sized, human-powered elephant in tow."
This weekend, we're heading out to the Brandon Folk Music & Art Festival for more good times, including some family-oriented parading. From there, we have a quick recovery (during which you can catch a handful of the Trolleys in the Kuravolution Fringe play) before hitting the highways all the way to Wells, BC for the ArtsWells Festival, followed by Shambhala and hopefully with a little stop at some hot springs on the way between the two, then back to Winnipeg in time for Chalk 4 Peace.
We're incredibly excited to be spreading the Trolley love all the way to BC again this summer, so make sure you come out and join us when we're in your area! And finally, here's a little bonus video from folkfest to leave y'all with:

The Trolleys originally formed waaay back in 2007 to march in Winnipeg's May Day Parade, and so this May 1st will mark the 5th anniversary of Trolleyness as we march for May Day once again!
Come join us the march in support of workers everywhere, the details are all here:

It's been a while since our last update, and I know you B.C. cats are intrigued by the title of this post, but I've got a little something to brag about first: Yesterday the Winnipeg Free Press featured a photo of none other than the Flaming Trolleys in their front-page item about Sunday's 7th Annual Walk for Mother Earth!
Everyone had a great time, and the weather and turnout were awesome! We even ended the walk with a nice ambient Trolley jam at the Forks. Here's some video of us getting warmed up in Central Park before the walk:
This coming Saturday (the 28th), the Trolleys will be taking part in the Food for Folks Fundraiser which starts at 6pm at the Ukrainian Labour Temple (591 Pritchard Ave). Not only will there be egregious amounts of dancing, but the profits will be reinvested into food security and urban agriculture projects in Winnipeg's North End neighbourhoods. Don't miss it!
And lastly, our plans are rapidly coming together for a little BC tour in August! The Trolleys will be visiting the Artswells Festival of All Things Art in Wells, BC before moseying over to the Shambhala Music Festival in Salmo to round out the journey.
How excited are we about all this news? Well, we are Trolleys so we're always excited. But on a scale of 1 to 10 (with an 11.987 being the typical Trolley excitement level at any given moment), I'd say we're about a 26.754 on the excitement scale! In other words, we're pretty stoked!

First, and most importantly, a GIANT thank you to everyone who came out to support us for March-2-gether. It was an amazingly positive evening of singing, dancing, more singing, more dancing, and a scandalous amount of kissing too ;D
As always, we're right back to work and in the throes of planning more festivities for this year, and it shall be a great one! You'll see lots of new shows to the left, a new video added to the videos page ("A Cornucopia of Hornography"), and as of March-2-gether we now have all new Official Flaming Trolleys merch: T-shirts, stickers, buttons, and more! Grab a T-shirt from Ragpickers, or see your favourite Trolley to get hooked up.
Also, if you have any photos from the March-2-gether event, we would love to see them! Please share on our Facebook page.
Stay tuned for more updates coming soon. Love and solidarity!

It's less than a week away from the big March 2-Gether fundraiser, and the Trolleys have been busy little bees (make sure you see a Trolley or visit Ragpickers for a ticket!).
Yesterday the papers arrived in the mail declaring us official owners of the name "The Flaming Trolleys" and so we marched on over to the Assiniboine Credit Union and opened ourselves an account. Perhaps we should learn to play the song at the end of the Crimson Permanent Assurance next...
Kat posted some really awesome photos of a recent practice, and practice we have been! We've also added a couple new performances (look to the left :), and tomorrow work begins on a new issue of our Trolley zine. Look for those, along with new stickers, t-shirts, and more at the big event next Friday!

Iain finished crafting the tickets for our March 2-Gether fundraiser extravaganza (available from any Trolley member or at Ragpickers), and we have word that Jonnies Sticky Buns will be doing us the honour of creating our very own "Flaming Bun" for the occasion too!
And now that the dust has had a chance to settle on our new website, we felt it was time to share our new Flaming Trolleys HU-manifesto with the world. Peace and come-unity!

This is a work-in-progress of the new Flaming Trolleys website. There may be kinks, factual or fictional inaccuracies, etc. and there most definitely are missing bits of info. That said, it's a start! Holler at us if you see something amiss, or if you just wish to sing our praises and such forth :)
